CVC clip cards build fluency, phoneme segmentation, vowel sounds, vocabulary, and reading accuracy. With these cvc clip cards, all you will need are a set of clothespins, and eager kids ready to practice their fluency and phonics skills.
Using colorful clothespins is an excellent strategy to use novelty with the cvc clip cards. When I place cvc games for kids out at centers, the kids are automatically drawn to the the centers with the newest gadgets.
Clothespin games are also great for building fine motor skills. Squeezing and manipulating the small clothespins builds muscles in the hands that will help with writing, etc. I like to switch up the clothespins often throughout the year. If you're wanting the kids to write the words, you may be interested in CVC Task Cards. My task cards come with a printable recording sheet. While the task cards are great for having a concrete way to assess the students work, the clip cards are an excellent grab and go center activity. You don't have to make copies, collect work, etc.
Clip cards are excellent morning work, early finisher, and independent center activities. Have students work alone or with a peer. When working with peers, they love checking each others work.
