Where do turkeys sleep? What do turkeys eat? Can baby turkeys fly? These are all great questions asked by my kinder students over the years. To help answer these questions, you can read turkey stories, guide your students to research turkeys online, and present this Ten Turkey Facts for Kids anchor chart found in my Building Sentences: All About Turkeys resource.
The Building Sentences, All About Turkeys, leveled word work is an excellent kindergarten and first grade Thanksgiving center activity. Simply print the Building Sentences Turkey worksheets, and model how to complete the Thanksgiving word work activity.
Level 1:
- Read the turkey fact at the top of the page.
- Cut the scrambled word tiles on the bottom of the page, and paste them in the correct order to build the turkey fact for kids.
- Draw a picture to show details about the turkey fact.
- I also have students write the sentence in the box, or on the back.
Level 2:
- For your more advanced learners, the level 2 worksheets do not have the sentence printed along the top.
- Students use syntax skills to construct a grammatically correct sentence using the word tiles at the bottom of the page.
- Draw a turkey picture to match the sentence, and write a sentence in the box below.
