Shaving Cream Playdough

What's better to do on a cold, rainy, afternoon than snuggle with a blanket - make shaving cream playdough, of course! No need to run to the store; you most likely have all the Shaving Cream Playdough ingredients already in your cupboards. Read on to get the playdough recipe, and start enjoying this fun kids activity with your whole family!

We rolled up our sleeves, cleared off a space on the kitchen table, washed our hands, and got started on making shaving cream playdough.  To begin, I put parchment paper down to protect the table and make for an easy cleanup for kids.

You Will Need:

Corn Starch

Shaving Cream

Food Coloring

That's it! This easy shaving cream playdough recipe only calls for three ingredients!

 When following this easy shaving cream playdough recipe, mix together equal parts of corn starch and shaving cream.  We started with a 1/2 cup of each.

 After mixing together these playdough ingredients, I poured it onto the table to begin kneading. My daughter is a little OCD like her momma, and immediately started pulling everything into a neat pile because "it's too messy" :)

 When I first began kneading the shaving cream playdough, I could tell I needed to make some adjustments.  It was too crumbly, so I added a small amount of shaving cream, and continued kneading.  This step took about 5 minutes.  While I was kneading, my daughter kept herself busy drawing in shaving cream on her little table. 

She chose the color, and added a few drops of food coloring to the shaving cream playdough.  Note to self: don't forget that food coloring will stain your hands and clothes, so be careful!

 This is how the shaving cream playdough turned out. When we do this craft again, we will mix the food coloring into the bowl of cornstarch and shaving cream BEFORE kneading it.  I think it would help with the color consistency.

Although a little messy, this shaving cream playdough was an excellent fine-motor activity for kids.  My daughter played with it for nearly an hour before dinner! I can't wait to try another playdough recipe and share it with you all.
