For now, in Ohio, the snow has melted and the green grass is shining. With Spring right around the corner, I can't help but think about St. Patrick's Day. To feed the love of everything green, pots of gold, rainbows, and sneaky little leprechauns, I have put together these St. Patrick's Day writing activities for kids.
Making Words
Kids begin learning vocabulary and fables about St. Patrick's Day in PreK and kindergarten. When introducing March Making Words activities, concepts, such as Spring, "in like a lion out like a lamb", and the hype of basketball for march madness are common March vocabulary for kids to learn. However, it's the St. Patrick's Day writing activities for kids that raise the most excitement in the classroom.

Even my youngest daughter loves doing this St. Patrick's Day hunt around the house. I tell her the leprechaun snuck into the house while she was playing, placed the picture cards all over, and hid a special treat for her when she fills up her recording sheet.
