Do you celebrate birthdays at school? Whether it's your students, or your own child, there's no denying the happiness that comes with celebrating a kids birthday at school.  It's their day to shine in front of all their friends and classmates.

I have a simple solution for celebrating birthdays at school - printable birthday tags.
Printable birthday tags, along with a simple birthday treat or birthday prize,  make the perfect affordable birthday gift to pass out in the classroom.

At the start of every school year, I ask my parent volunteers to prep classroom birthday prizes, such as birthday pencils, birthday straws, and sticker sheets, then write each students name on a classroom birthday poster, or create a small birthday bulletin board. Keeping the bucket of birthday treats near my desk is a great visual reminder not to forget anyone's birthday.  That is the worst feeling ever!

Birthday Pencils

Simply cut out these printable tags, and tape them to a decorative pencil!  I put these in a magnetic pen holder, and kept it on the board next to the birthday poster.

The birthday kiddo gets to choose a special pencil at the beginning of the day.  (Tip - be sure to sharpen the pencils before putting them out for display.)  They LOVE writing with their special pencil all day.  If they want, they can take it home at the end of the day to show their family. 

  

 Cool Crazy Straws - Again, simply cut and tape these Birthday toppers to crazy straws.  The kids think these straws are the best thing ever.  Several kids asked to use them at lunch, but I told them they had to take them home and have their mom or dad wash it first.

Party favors, whether for classroom parties or birthday parties for kids, can be quick and simple.  Less is more! The kids leave feeling special, and are proud to celebrate their birthday in front of others.

While birthdays at school may not be as extravagant as they once were, there are ways to make every kid feel special on their birthday!

These printable birthday tags are also be great for cheap party favors.  Choose from superheroes, girls and boys, owls, ocean, dinosaurs, and pirates. You could tape the tags on candy treats, such as pixie sticks, lollipops, or nerd ropes. Put them in a cute bucket by the door, and tell each kid to grab one on their way out :)
