We started the classroom tree project yesterday, and thanks to a wonderful room parent, it was up as a hall display by this afternoon.
Each kid was given a large green triangle. This year, I chose to precut the triangles to assure size accuracy.
First, they gave suggestions of what you might see on a Christmas tree- most answers were candy canes and ornaments. Using crayons and colored pencils, they drew any two decorations.
Then, I put a variety of beads and ribbon at each table. They were allowed to decorate their tree any way they wanted. Once the trees were complete, we set them on the windowsill to let them dry overnight.
The kids loved walking into the hall to find this wonderful display.
